‘THE CRUCIBLE’ by Arthur Miller

Author of the Notes: Mrs Pushpinder Kaur

PUBLISHED in 1953, ‘The Crucible’ was another milestone, in the writing career of the American playwright Arthur Miller. It is a dramatized and partially fictionalized story of the Salem witch-trials that took place in the Massachusetts Bay Colony during 1692–93. The puritanical regime as practised in Salem in the 17th century refers to the religious Christians who looked down on anyone who did not practise religion as they did.
